Beardance was formed in late 2019 by Co-Artistic Director Rory Francis, with our other Co-Artistic Director, Charlotte Blandford, joining in April 2022. We released two series of online audio shorts titled Texts in Isolation during lockdown in 2020, and produced a short play night, Let’s Try This Again, in October 2022 at Canada Water Theatre, featuring a variety of emerging writers. Our play Brighter, about living with bipolar disorder, was performed at the Rotunda Theatre: Squeak at Brighton Fringe Festival 2023 and Applecart Arts in London, and since then we have conducted research and development on several projects.
We are currently working on our next project, Dark as the Night and Light as the Moon, a play exploring interracial relationships between Black and White people throughout history. We are currently looking for partnership opportunities, funding and suitable venues for this project and more.
